English Language Challenges

Hi, today I will tell you about my experience in the English course at the university, since I was a child I’ve taken English courses, it started in the kinder garden and continued when I was studying in school, but I don’t have very good courses, many times  the teachers made  classes repetitive and very basic, for this reason my father registered me in an institute so in this way I could learn more about this language. I was in the course for two or three years approximately and that time my English was good, but for things of life I was given the opportunity to learn German and I was losing more and more my English. I had to learn to separate both languages that often have similar words but with very different pronunciation.

When I knew that I would have English classes in the university I thought it was a very good idea because this way I could pick up English again and learn and review many words that  could have been forgotten. This language is fundamental to understand a lot of study material, I usually use it to read papers. As the year passed many times I was exhausted and have English don’t make things easier, but sometimes the classes served to me relax and have a nice time in classes. My blog experience I think it was good this was a new and entertaining way to learn new words and I get to know a little more my classmates.

I think that one of the things I should reinforce about my learning of English is pronunciation, unfortunately while I study at university I don’t have too much time, but  a good way to keep in touch with this language is to listen music in English, watch  movies with subtitles or try to read some books with to help of a dictionary, this activities I do  usually when I have free time.

Changes in faculty

Hi, in this opportunity I will talk about the university where I study and some changes that could be to improve. The truth is that since I was a little I wanted to study in the great university of Chile, but for things of life I met another university when I finished high school and it’s inevitable to make some comparisons.

In terms of infrastructure is very deficient compared to other universities, more spaces to study could be built (many times with my friends we don’t have where to study because the library is very small and pass full), also could be built casinos bigger than the one that exists now (it is important that they improve the quality of their meals and they lower the prices of lunches).Another important point of infrastructure are the pre-clinical , it’s necessary to construct more places of practice that reach for the students who have the faculty.

In general I really like the subjects of my career, it is very oriented to the odontology, in others faculties of odontology is only oriented to basic sciences but the one of us has a different approach witch is very good. Something that really bothers me are the methods of study that exist and the disorganization of the UTES, in this faculty there is not exist the respect for the students (many times we have controls, “certamenes” and practical work together in a single day and many times the teachers give us material of study the day before the test) it would be good to make a change in our faculty as to the organization of the UTES for improve the relationships between students and teachers and in this way to reduce a little the stress.

The workload of our career is high and the duration of this is too much 6 years for the title of dentist and after a few more years of study for the specialty, I think it is important fix the mesh to reduce years of study.

In terms of technology I believe that the faculty has good tools for students and teachers, they can research with microscopes of very good quality for example.

I believe that with some changes our faculty would have even more recognition than it has today.

My favorite band

Hi today I will tell you about my favorite band, the truth is that I have two favorite bands, which are of very different musical styles, these are Red Hot Chili Peppers and Coldplay, so I will write a little about both.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers I like from many years ago, I don’t even remember since when I like them, since I was a little I have been listening because my dad like me also likes many songs of them. But if I remember one of the first songs I listened from them its name is Californication, from that moment I’m a great fan of them, I have many of its CDs, DVDs, T-shirts, hats, even I read the book written by Anthony Kiedis (the vocalist of the group), its name is Scar tissue.

My favorite album of them is “By the way” and my favorite concert is “Red Hot Chili Peppers live at slane castle", this is one of my favorite because have a compilation of songs from different albums, if you ask me what I like of this band I will probably answer is that, I like their music and I love their lyrics, many of their lyrics reflect the life experiences of their composers. Unfortunately, in all the opportunities that the band has visited our country I didn’t go to their shows. I look forward their next visit, maybe in their next visit to Chile I will could go to their concert this will be the next year, because they will have a presentation in Rock in Rio and   the fans are expecting one tour for the rest of South America.

Another of my favorite bands is Coldplay, I really like them because I consider them very good musicians, they play many different instruments and they're excellent composers, this year I had the opportunity to went to the concert in April with one of my best friends.

                                         Summer holidays

Hi today I going to tell you about my future plans in summer holidays.

The truth is that  I am not sure yet what I will do in this vacation, I will write about only possibilities. This summer  my father told me that,  most probably,  my family and me  will travel outside the country,  for  my father’s work. This trip will be  the last week of February but my parents are still thinking because this date  doesn’t coincide  with my mother’s vacation. The first option is to visit Mexico specifically Cancún city, I’m not very happy with this option because I don’t like very much the beach although if I have to say  that it’s a very cute place with very interesting places as Chichén Itsá for example, some years ago I had the possibility to travel to this place with my cousins and it was very fun.

But in this case I will travel with my parents and my little sister and brother, I imagine it will be  a trip a little different because with my cousins we have the same age and we went out to several places together, but my family don't know this city and this case I will be kind of  a travel guide.

If we travel  to this place, we are probably going to visit the islands near Cancún , for example “La isla mujeres” and the aquatic park Xcaret, this park has different activities like crossing the river in a raft, swimming with dolphins even with  small sharks( with all security measures), diving and many others. I would like to visit Chichén Itsá again but I have doubts that my family will want to go. About the food I don’t have a preference but I love the natural juices in this place.

          

                      SDLE

Hi everyone! Today I will tell you about my experience in SDLE, maybe I can’t respond the question “How to survive SDLE” in this opportunity I was more an observer and I can write about the things that I liked.

The truth is that, I had heard about the “carretes “ in the university of Chile, the people said  they were some of the best in Santiago  especially the faculty of dentistry, but I never imagined it was true.

A few years ago I studied at a university very different, the PUC, they have carretes too, but nothing compared to the things I saw here, It was a very entertaining week, during this week we only had classes in the morning until one pm. and we didn’t have any evaluation or practical works, this was a great help for us because this way most of  the students could stay to participate in different activities.

 Personally I don’t like very much to participate in activities of this type; it may be because at school I participated in alliances too much  and this time I wanted to observe  the different  activities, Maybe another year I will participate in some activities or dances. I kept looking every day and I laughed a lot .I saw many entertaining things like test surprise or the grace of the teachers, one of the things I liked the most was the painted bodies in this activity my classmates painted a very nice design related about our theme of alliance “Las Vegas”. On Thursday of that week we went to Lonquen, that was one of the funniest things of the week. A lot of strange  things happened this week but what happened in the SDLE stays in the SDLE  jajaj.

                                                                                                       

                                  Postgraduate studies    

 Hi everyone! today I will tell you about postgraduate studies.

As I’ve been writing in my previous blogs topics I have a long time still to decide what to do or study in the future but if someone ask me what are my options or plans for the future, I’ll probably say “I’m going to be studying all my life”, maybe the people would consider this an exaggeration but I’ve always thought that people who are linked to professions in the area of health continually have to be studying because the sciences are continually advancing and new things are known.

For this reason, my options in the future are two for now, if I work in the clinical area of dentistry I think my option is pediatric dentist, this specialty not only treats patients teenage and children but also helps patients with special needs as a syndromes or disabilities, for this I would like to take courses to help patients with these conditions. My second choice would be to investigation I would like to do master’s degree in the area of biology, histology or chemistry but always related to dentistry, definitely I would like to study in foreign countries as Germany or France which have very good universities. I think a good way to study it would be a part- time courses this way I will could work in mornings and study in the evenings or nights.

                 

Hi! Today I going to tell you about my future job

 The truth is that I don't have very clear image about  my  job in the future, obviously  it is related  to  odontology but  I'm not sure  if  I like  the clinical part of this career  as to work on it for life , if I have to choose now  probably I'd like to work with kids as pediatric dentist, because I would like help children of low economic situation, my mother works  in a school  as  a kindergarten teacher  and many times  when I've been  able to help her at the  school, I've seen different realities  about these kids, many of them  don’t have  opportunities to visit a dentist even  the don’t know the dentist, it  is  for that reason that I would    like to work  in the public  system of health  for a while  and help  them  in some way, Maybe when I work in the clinic in the university and know other specialties I could change my mind.

But as I wrote previously, I don’t imagine myself working all my life in a clinic, because since I was child I liked the investigation and in the future I'd like to work in this area related with my career, this months in the university I've known different areas that I didn’t know about this career most of this areas are related   with a biology and chemistry, this two things I always liked. If the salary  is good  I would like to save money  for  the future, so  when  I get  older I can do two of my dreams  one of them is  travel and the second is have  a cake shop and cook my different recipes of pies and cakes.
